Today, Jenn Hill, our Program Director gave us a great devotion entitled, “The Bird”.
We have this Cardinal that has been bumping our office window now for about a month. Jenn decided instead of getting upset about it, that she would ask God what He would have her learn from it. She shared that we often find ourselves desiring things that are not good for us. Fortunately, the Holy Spirit, like the glass of the window, keeps us from getting trapped in a prison of sin. If we would but turn our focus away and repent, we could enjoy the blessings God has prepared for us. She made a connection to Romans 7 where we find the following:
21 So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? 25 Thanks be to God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!
We prayed that God would use WCRC as a place where people can re-focus and break free from the things that keep them from experiencing the blessings of God.
