The Heart of WCRC: Our Core Values
Remain faithful to Christ, the Word of God, and the demonstration of His love.
Provide a peaceful setting that encourages a relaxed pace, enjoyment of the outdoors, and worship of God – our Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer.
Present attitudes that are friendly, compassionate, courteous, and helpful.
Provide opportunities for adventure, recreation, and fun that will build positive memories for all ages.
Maintain clean and attractive grounds and facilities.
Our vision to build faith through camp
In the early 1980s, members of the area Mennonite churches became concerned with the spiritual needs of youth.
They found that young people were often making their professions of faith at church camps, so they decided to build a camp facility in the Tidewater area of Virginia that would offer opportunities for young people to begin a relationship with Jesus Christ and grow in their walk with God.
A peaceful woodland retreat located in Toano, Virginia near Historic Williamsburg, VA.
WCRC has 300 peaceful wooded acres on the Tidewater Peninsula in Southeastern Virginia.
It’s a peaceful oasis with canopied forests for hiking, open fields, and other recreation facilities for games and gatherings. Beavers, deer, wild turkeys, and blue heron call WCRC home allowing guests to experience God’s creation in all its splendor. It’s close enough to be convenient – minutes off I-64, an hour from Virginia Beach and Richmond — yet far enough to get away – it’s a place where you can still see the stars at night.
Stories from the Heart
“… He committed his life to Jesus.”
“Dear WCRC: my son was a participant of Kaleidoscope Camp this past summer where he committed his life to Jesus. He is now taking the next step in his Christian walk and has asked to be baptized. His baptism will occur this coming Sunday.
I know it is unlikely that you and his counselors would be able to come, but I do want to extend an invitation for you to join us in this celebration. He had two counselors: Jonathon and Poncho.”
“Matters of the Heart”
“In planning for the upcoming homeschooling year, about a week before the retreat God had made it clear to me that we needed to focus on ‘Matters of the Heart.’
I kept repeating these words that God revealed to me to my family and friends leading up to the retreat. And shortly after we arrived we found out that “Matters of the Heart” was the series we would be exploring throughout our time at WCRC. My husband, my daughter, and I were amazed at this confirmation from God that “Matters of the Heart” were of the utmost importance in the upcoming year.
Also, we had been struggling with issues such as coveting and wanting to see movies and read books that are not in line with God’s teachings, and sure enough one of the messages pertained to guarding our hearts against worldly things, specifically those that our family had been struggling with.
God knew what we were experiencing at home and addressed it all perfectly (as only He can). Our entire experience can best be summed up as a true gift from our Heavenly Father that we will cherish always.“

We were just recently there for a church retreat What a wonderful place!!! Located in the middle of the forest like an oasis
Surely the Holy Spirit has one of his favorite locations there We will indeed come back💓 -
My 11-year daughter had the time of her life at the Kaleidoscope camp! At first, we were a little concerned because she would be with other campers older than her (up to age 13) and we weren’t sure what to expect She was very shy the first day and after I dropped her off I wondered if she would be included with the other older girls in her cabin I was reassured that she had a great time when she came home and said that she had made 9 new friends and that she couldn’t wait to go back next year She told me about the delicious food they served (which made me feel bad that I don’t provide hot meals every morning!) and the wonderful activities like the pool and zipline She loved their hilarious camp skits that taught her lessons and she really loved the canoeing/kayaking The staff, including Josh, was always very helpful, including taking personal texts from me during the camp week We really appreciate the WCRC providing awesome activities that are truly fun for youth and also lead them closer to God!

UPDATED – 2nd year at Family Camp and was even better Camp Staff went over an above for my gluten intolerance! and the counselors? Magical with our kids (and great ambassadors for Jesus)
WOW Just WOW I felt like I attended the camp that I missed as a kid!! We had such an amazing experience at Family Camp 2016 We made new friends, we hung out with old friends, ate great (and nutritious!) food, slept in spotless cabins, swam in a well-guarded pool, climbed trees, hiked, played games that I never heard of, laughed and laughed at myself and the antics of the counselors, learned how to shoot arrows, marbles and toast marshmallows from the silliest staff My kids (and WE!) were very impressed by this fun, Christian environment: constant supervision, loose schedule with lots of room for private fun and excursions, plenty of scheduled fun to choose from, great communication and all ran by people that truly love their jobs and God HIGHLY recommend this experience
