Bear Fruit

John 15:5 was one of our memory verses during camp this summer. We talked about how Jesus gives us the power to bear fruit, and He wants us to bear fruit for His glory.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing…This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.” John 15:5, 8

Everyone tends to have some fruit that come more easily to them and others that they struggle with, but Jesus can give you strength to overcome temptation and bear good fruit in every area of your life if you ask him and listen to the Spirit at work in your heart. It takes discipline to make the right decisions, but our Helper has everything we need. We do this not to earn salvation, or any praise for ourselves and our abilities, but to bring glory to the Lord for His work visible through us.

“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Galatians 5:25
